Staff Accountant – Temporary

Position Overview

CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for a temporary opportunity with an established organization in Arlington, TX. We are looking for a hands-on accounting professional with direct experience preparing and filing sales tax returns AND performing monthly bank reconciliations who can quickly step in and support ongoing accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently prepare and file sales tax returns, including related general ledger research and reconciliation.

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for approximately 40 bank accounts.

• Complete additional monthly general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, research outstanding transactions, and prepare necessary adjustments.

• Support timely completion of monthly accounting activities.

• Provide occasional backup support for payroll processing as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on staff accounting, general ledger accounting, or bookkeeping experience.

• Direct experience preparing and filing sales tax returns.

• Hands-on experience independently performing monthly bank reconciliations.

• Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Ability to research discrepancies, manage multiple accounts, and work independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.

Additional Details

• Full-time, temporary assignment anticipated to last approximately 3–6 months.

• Onsite in Arlington, TX.

• Monday–Friday schedule with some flexibility.

• Casual, professional work environment.

• Payroll or Workday experience is a plus, but not required.
