CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Senior Grant Accountant to support post-award grant accounting and sponsored program financial operations for a short-term coverage need.

This is a hands-on accounting role supporting grant accounting activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and sponsored funding operations. The team is looking for someone who can step in quickly, work independently, and support day-to-day accounting functions in a structured, compliance-focused environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Prepare and submit financial reports for grant-funded programs and projects
• Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with funding guidelines
• Support month-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations
• Review payroll and personnel-related expenses tied to funded programs
• Monitor billings and receivables related to sponsored funding
• Assist with audit support and project closeout activities
• Maintain project budgets and financial setup within accounting systems
• Partner with internal departments to support accounting operations and reporting

Must-Have Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Experience with reconciliations, general ledger, and financial reporting
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Ability to step into a new environment with minimal ramp time

Nice to Have
• Grant accounting or project-based accounting experience
• Experience working with externally funded programs or projects
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as PeopleSoft, Concur, or similar platforms
• Knowledge of compliance-focused accounting environments
• Experience supporting audits, reporting, or regulated funding processes
