CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst for a growing HCM organization in the The Woodlands area. This position plays a key role in supporting payroll tax operations for multiple clients while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Research, investigate, and resolve payroll tax notices by working directly with tax agencies and clients.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and maintain quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, including Forms 941, 940, W-2, and W-3.
  • Process payroll tax deposits, filings, payments, and corrections across multiple federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Perform payroll tax reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between payroll and tax systems.
  • Maintain payroll tax accounts, tax registrations, and jurisdictional updates.
  • Respond to client and internal payroll tax inquiries while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and filing deadlines.
  • Partner with internal payroll and operations teams to resolve complex payroll tax issues and improve processes.

Qualifications
  • MasterTax experience required.
  • 3+ years of dedicated Payroll Tax experience supporting multi-state payroll tax operations.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, payroll tax corrections, and compliance.
  • Experience researching and resolving payroll tax notices through direct communication with tax agencies.
  • Experience reconciling Forms 941, 940, W-2, and W-3.
  • Experience working in a PEO, HCM, payroll service provider, payroll outsourcing, or other high-volume payroll environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ADP SmartCompliance is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, customer service, and communication skills.

Additional Details
Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

Work Environment: Fully onsite during the training period, transitioning to a hybrid schedule after approximately three months.
