ROLE OVERVIEW
A growing industrial services organization is seeking an experienced Fuel Equipment Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of its fuel equipment service and tank teams.
This role is responsible for coordinating equipment builds, service activity, tank projects, deliveries, field requests, and customer priorities while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
The Fuel Equipment Manager will provide hands-on leadership to team leads, technicians, installers, and other operational employees while managing workload, quality, inventory, scheduling, service priorities, and overall department performance.
The ideal candidate is a strong operations leader who is organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced service environment. This person should be confident leading employees, solving operational problems, enforcing accountability, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, customer service, and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the day-to-day operations of fuel equipment service, tank, build, delivery, and field-service teams.
• Supervise team leads and ensure equipment builds and deliveries are completed according to established procedures, job specifications, and quality expectations.
• Oversee work involving aboveground storage tanks, fuel equipment, monitoring systems, and related service needs.
• Ensure operating procedures and work standards are consistently followed across equipment build, service, and delivery activities.
• Conduct or oversee quality checks on completed equipment and outgoing deliveries.
• Coordinate and dispatch field technicians based on service priorities, customer needs, workload, and technician availability.
• Manage service requests involving fuel storage systems, fuel management equipment, monitoring systems, loaned equipment, relocations, and other field-service activity.
• Review service documentation and ensure customer, equipment, project, and job information is accurately maintained within the applicable CRM or service-management system.
• Audit service records, equipment agreements, pickups, relocations, sales documentation, and related operational records for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate site visits to evaluate customer needs and determine appropriate equipment, service, and installation requirements.
• Prioritize equipment builds, customer requests, and field-service needs based on urgency, workload, scheduling commitments, and business priorities.
• Monitor project and service timelines and communicate anticipated completion dates to internal teams and customer-facing partners.
• Oversee recurring customer service programs and ensure scheduled services are completed on time.
• Manage specialty cleaning or maintenance teams as applicable and ensure recurring customer requirements are fulfilled.
• Work closely with sales and customer-facing teams to align customer expectations, project timelines, and service commitments.
• Partner with team leads to distribute workload, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure department goals and performance expectations are achieved.
• Track operational performance using established KPIs and service metrics.
• Maintain strong inventory controls for service parts, equipment builds, tank projects, tools, and related materials.
• Ensure inventory procedures are followed consistently and investigate discrepancies when needed.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe yard, warehouse, shop, and equipment-storage environment.
• Conduct routine inspections and ensure field and shop activities comply with established safety requirements, operating procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing proper work practices and addressing unsafe conditions or behaviors promptly.
• Provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback to employees.
• Set performance expectations, delegate responsibilities, and hold team members accountable for quality, productivity, safety, and customer service.
• Identify operational issues and work with leadership to develop practical solutions and process improvements.
• Respond quickly to changing customer needs, service issues, equipment delays, and operational challenges.
• Maintain a high standard of customer service and ensure issues are communicated and resolved appropriately.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous management or supervisory experience within fuel equipment, petroleum equipment, industrial services, field service, construction, mechanical service, or a related operational environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading technicians, installers, tradespeople, or operational employees.
• Strong understanding of service operations, scheduling, dispatching, workload planning, and customer service.
• Experience managing multiple service requests, projects, equipment builds, or field assignments simultaneously.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to set expectations, coach employees, delegate responsibilities, and maintain accountability.
• Ability to make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, sales teams, vendors, and leadership.
• Experience using CRM, service-management, inventory-management, or similar operational systems.
• Ability to understand and enforce operating procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and documentation expectations.
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel to customer locations as needed.

• Experience within petroleum equipment, fuel systems, tank services, industrial equipment, or a related technical service environment.
• Knowledge of aboveground storage tanks and related equipment.

• Previous experience managing field-service technicians, equipment installers, tank teams, or skilled-trade employees.
• Experience with technician dispatching and service scheduling.
