• Starting salary: $67,000 annually
• Per diem provided for qualifying travel
• Approximately 50% overnight travel to customer locations

ROLE OVERVIEW
A technical services organization is seeking an experienced Biomedical Technician to perform calibration, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of biomedical test and measurement equipment used in healthcare, laboratory, and medical-device environments.
This is a hands-on field position combining biomedical equipment expertise with precision metrology and customer-facing service. The technician will travel to customer sites to perform calibration and verification services while ensuring equipment meets required performance, quality, and traceability standards.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in biomedical equipment, electronics, calibration, or metrology and is comfortable working independently in hospitals, laboratories, manufacturing environments, and customer facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform calibration, verification, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of biomedical test and measurement equipment.
• Service equipment such as electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, defibrillator analyzers, infusion pump analyzers, ventilator testers, physiological signal simulators, and temperature, pressure, and flow measurement devices.
• Perform onsite and laboratory-based calibration services in accordance with established procedures, manufacturer specifications, and applicable quality standards.
• Verify equipment performance and measurement accuracy using appropriate calibration standards and test procedures.
• Maintain measurement traceability and ensure calibration standards are handled, maintained, and documented properly.
• Generate accurate calibration certificates, service reports, test results, and quality documentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions or repair requirements.
• Interpret technical manuals, schematics, specifications, calibration procedures, and equipment documentation.
• Maintain accurate service records and equipment histories within applicable asset-management and calibration systems.
• Provide customers with technical support and basic equipment-use guidance when needed.
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding service findings, equipment condition, repair needs, and completed work.
• Maintain assigned tools, calibration standards, replacement parts, and service equipment.
• Ensure equipment and standards are transported and stored appropriately during field assignments.
• Support internal and external quality audits as needed.
• Participate in root-cause analysis, corrective-action activities, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Follow established safety, quality, documentation, and customer-service procedures while working independently in the field.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in biomedical equipment service, calibration, metrology, electronics, or a closely related technical field.
• Working knowledge of calibration principles, measurement accuracy, uncertainty, and traceability.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills involving electronic and electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, specifications, and calibration procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when documenting technical work.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple customer assignments and service priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, including overnight travel.
• Ability to work effectively in hospitals, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and other customer environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related documentation systems.
EQUIPMENT & TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
The Biomedical Technician will work with a range of precision equipment and technical systems, including:
• Electrical and electronic measurement equipment
• Biomedical test equipment and simulators
• Calibration and metrology software
• Asset-management and service-tracking systems
• Electrical safety testing equipment
• Temperature, pressure, flow, and signal measurement devices
• Precision calibration standards and instrumentation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to approximately 65 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work with technical equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to transport tools, standards, and test equipment between customer locations.
• Comfortable working in a variety of technical and customer environments.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Experience working within ISO 9001 or ISO/IEC 17025 quality environments.
• Previous experience in an accredited calibration laboratory or field-calibration operation.
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification.
• Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) certification.
• Experience servicing biomedical test equipment from manufacturers such as Fluke Biomedical, Rigel, BC Group, Pronk, Datrend Systems, or comparable manufacturers.
• Experience performing customer-facing field service or calibration work.
• Familiarity with quality audits, corrective actions, measurement uncertainty, and continuous-improvement processes.
