We’re partnering with a growing organization seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations across a multi-entity, real estate portfolio (multifamily focus).
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys being in the details, leading a team, and bringing structure to a fast-paced environment. The team is looking for someone who can step in quickly and make an immediate impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Support property-level accounting, including revenue recognition and tenant activity
• Manage and mentor accounting staff (approx. 5–6 direct reports)
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency
• Partner with leadership to support reporting and operational improvements
Must-Have Qualifications
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Current experience in multifamily / property accounting
• Hands-on experience with month-end close and day-to-day accounting operations
• Experience managing or leading a team
• Experience with property management/accounting systems (Entrata strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Ability to step into a new environment with minimal ramp time
Nice to Have
• CPA or CPA track
• Experience in multi-entity or portfolio-based environments
• Exposure to process improvements or system implementations
• Experience working in fast-paced or evolving environments
