Construction Accountant

Location: 100% Onsite in Grand Prairie, TX 75050

Schedule: Flexible for your needs, Monday through Friday, between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (8-hour shift)

Salary: $65K+ BOE


Overview:

A well-established construction company in Grand Prairie is seeking an experienced Construction Accountant to support full-cycle accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience in job cost accounting, and the ability to manage both transactional and analytical functions. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with project managers and leadership to drive accurate financial results.


Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts receivable invoices and ensure timely collections
  • Manage vendor reconciliations and support accounts payable processing
  • Prepare and review job cost reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Assist with financial reporting, including balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow schedules
  • Provide data for budgeting and forecasting and perform variance analysis
  • Assist with audit preparation by compiling schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies (including sales/use tax filings and expense reporting)
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in accounting workflows
  • Collaborate with project managers, leadership, and cross-functional teams to support decision-making
  • Perform payroll processing and related reconciliations as needed
  • Handle other accounting duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience; construction industry experience
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct or other ERP/accounting systems
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and construction job cost accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
