Position Summary
The Chief of Tax is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing all tax functions for the firm’s distinguished client base. This highly organized and proactive professional will manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead a high-performing tax team while collaborating across departments. This role is based in our Los Angeles office.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and review complex income tax returns (Corporations, Partnerships, Individuals).
Lead quality control review for all financial statements.
Manage planning and compliance of international tax matters, waivers, and returns.
Oversee estimated tax payments and ensure adherence to reporting policies and procedures.
Direct year-end shareholder bonus processes, W-2, and 1099 distribution.
Supervise preparation of tax work papers, investment reconciliations, payroll tax returns, and state filings.
Lead entity creation/dissolution processes and handle related compliance filings.
Represent clients in tax audits and prepare related correspondence.
Train and develop tax and accounting staff on best practices.
Prepare and review billing for tax services rendered.
Provide overall supervision to the tax team, ensuring excellence in service delivery.
Qualifications
BS in Accounting, Finance, or Economics (Master’s in Taxation or MAcc preferred).
CPA license required.
10–15+ years in tax practice with at least 10 years in a supervisory role.
Experience with HNWI clients, preferably in business management, public accounting, or working with high-profile clientele.
Expertise in a wide range of tax return types and financial statement review.
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and tax software.
Ability to commute reliably to the Los Angeles office.
