Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: 100% Onsite in Mesa, AZ

Job Type: Full Time, Exempt

Schedule: M-TH: 7:30AM to 4:30PM, F: 7:30AM to 11:30AM

Salary Range: $76,000.00+ BOE

Overview:

An established and rapidly growing organization in the construction sector is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Staff Accountant to join the accounting team. This role requires a sharp, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong grasp of accounting fundamentals, including exposure to job costing and tax compliance.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform bank reconciliations and support tax filing processes
  • Process AP payments, handle supplier waivers, and manage vendor inquiries and 1099s
  • Oversee AR tasks including cash receipts, customer waivers, and the pre-lien process
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting schedules for month-end close
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare related journal entries for review
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts and ensure accurate reporting
  • Handle various other duties as assigned by the department

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with accounting systems and strong understanding of GAAP-compliant processes
  • Solid background in job costing and construction-related financial procedures
  • Strong command of U.S. tax regulations and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Analytical mindset with proven ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance highly preferred
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience within construction or a related field
  • Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum is highly desirable
