CornerStone Professional Placement has partnered with a reputable and growing insurance company in their search for a Senior Reinsurance Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional with deep experience in statutory reporting, GAAP, and insurance/reinsurance financials to step into a high-impact role within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Prepare journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations

• Complete statutory statements (Blue Books), schedules, and exhibits per SAP

• Support GAAP and STAT audit coordination

• Lead submission of all regulatory reports to meet compliance deadlines

• Assist in onboarding new regulatory requirements, reinsurance partners, and acquisitions

• Oversee daily cash management as needed

• Review state regulatory filings including tax returns and unclaimed property filings

• Monitor changes in NAIC accounting standards

• Drive continuous improvement in internal accounting procedures

• Interface with state examiners, auditors, and senior leadership

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (Accounting concentration)

• CPA certified or eligible preferred

• 7+ years in insurance financial accounting and statutory reporting

• 12+ years of overall accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of US statutory insurance/reinsurance accounting

• Experience preparing life insurance financials under statutory basis

• Familiarity with GAAP reporting

• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel expertise preferred)

• Model Audit Rule compliance experience

• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

• Ability to lead, mentor, and supervise accounting staff

• Excellent relationship management across departments

Compensation and Benefits:

• Competitive base salary: $90,000 – $130,000
