Inventory Accountant
Job Description
Cornerstone has partnered with a leading local company in their search for an experienced CPA to lead key improvement projects involving large data sets and drive process transformation within a complex public company environment.
This pivotal role is designed for a seasoned professional with a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, and data management. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing general accounting functions, implementing and maintaining robust systems, and leading change initiatives in a shared services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage general accounting activities, ensuring accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of financial data.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting systems, procedures, and policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company, government agencies, and CPA auditors, ensuring compliance and maintaining accurate historical records.
- Set objectives and establish goals to meet organizational targets, providing guidance to team members to achieve these goals.
- Review and assess work based on achievement of objectives and adherence to schedules, recommending policy changes as necessary.
- Manage departmental activities, coordinating efforts to optimize costs, methods, and employee performance.
- Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, functional peer group managers, and customers, addressing issues that cross various functional areas and divisions.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation is required, along with a degree in Accounting or Finance and 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and external auditing, with hands-on experience in JDE/SAP.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading projects focused on data analytics, process improvements, and GL reconciliations, with specific experience in handling large data sets.
- Proven ability to drive change and lead business/process transformation in a shared services environment within a large, complex public company.
- Preferably, experience with Big-4 Firm audit or accounting advisory services.
- Experience in leading large, diverse teams, particularly within a Global Fortune 100 company setting.
- Prior experience working with global outsource providers is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to senior and executive leadership.
- Strong team-building capabilities, strategic problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control environments.
