CornerStone is partnering with a local nonprofit in their search for a Grant Accounting Manager to join their team. We are seeking a grassroots accountant with an entrepreneurial mindset, ready to build out processes and procedures and automate functionality.

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the HUD Grant Accounting Manager will oversee the grants management functions of the agency. This role is critical for securing and effectively managing funding to support homeless rehousing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in federal grant programs, particularly focused on homelessness, along with experience using Blackbaud software. We seek someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, adaptable, and possesses strong project management and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead grant and contract staff, providing direction for processes related to pass-through programs, RFPs, budgeting, and grants management software.
  • Manage a portfolio of federal, state, local, and private grants and contracts.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports regarding contracts, policies, and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to develop budgets and narratives that align with project goals and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of grant agreements, reports, and other required documents.
  • Oversee monitoring processes for pass-through programs to evaluate compliance risks among subrecipients.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong project management abilities and an action-oriented mindset.
  • Agility and adaptability in response to changing environments and insights.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with internal staff and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equity and alignment with racial equity goals.
  • Expertise in grant-based accounting, fiscal management of federal and non-federal funds, and Blackbaud software.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with housing, homeless, or community development grant programs.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in grant management, ideally with HUD or other federal grants.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience mentoring diverse teams.

Work Schedule:

  • Normal operating hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with some night and weekend meetings as needed.
  • A flexible work environment allows for both remote and in-office work, with a requirement to work at least three days per week in the office.
