Schedule: M-F, 8-5

Salary: $135K+/- BOE


Position Summary

The Claims Manager oversees enterprise-wide claims activity with a focus on multi-state General Liability, Auto Liability, and Workers’ Compensation. This role requires deep experience handling complex and litigated claims, including the ability to develop strategic, cost-conscious resolution plans. The position interacts daily with internal teams, legal partners, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. Strong reserving knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume, high-severity caseload are essential.


Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced knowledge of legal concepts related to workplace injuries, auto liability incidents, third-party bodily injury claims, and property damage.
  • Partner closely with third-party administrators, occupational health teams, insurance carriers, and other external resources to improve claim outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for resolving high-exposure and complex claims.
  • Evaluate potential financial exposures and recommend effective risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor claims data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and cost control.
  • Prepare and distribute routine reporting with insights that support organizational objectives.
  • Identify and leverage internal and external resources to drive timely and effective resolutions.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with brokers, attorneys, and internal teams to ensure consistent communication and alignment.
  • Recommend innovative approaches to reduce claim frequency, severity, and overall risk.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on claims processes and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements.
  • Lead and supervise the Senior Claims Specialist.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in multi-line, multi-state claims management.
  • Advanced knowledge of claims adjusting, insurance practices, and legal strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-severity claims and implementing risk-reduction initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
  • Professional certifications such as AIC or similar preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the role in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and all applicable regulations.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs as needed.
