Location: 100% Onsite in Southlake, TX
Schedule: M-TH: 7:30AM to 5PM CT; F: 7:30AM to 11:30AM CT (Enjoy Half-Day Fridays!)
Duration: Direct-Hire! Be a permanent employee from day one!
Starting Salary: $80K+ BOE
Overview:
A privately held real estate development group seeks an Accounting Supervisor to lead day-to-day accounting activities across multiple closely held entities. This is a hands-on leadership role managing a small team and overseeing core functions including job cost accounting, cash management, intercompany activity, and monthly financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, comfort with multi-entity environments, and experience in real estate, construction, or homebuilding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor a team of 2-3 accounting staff
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Maintain robust internal controls and contribute to process improvement
- Manage accounting workflows across multiple companies, including:
- Cash Management - Prepare weekly cash position reports across numerous bank accounts, perform daily transfers, and complete monthly reconciliations
- Accounts Payable - Oversee invoice coding, approvals, and processing, including year-end 1099s
- Accounts Receivable - Handle invoicing for development fees and inter-company transactions
- Job Costing - Coordinate budgeting, contract review, change orders, and job cost reporting
- General Ledger - Review journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare schedules
- Financial Reporting - Prepare monthly financial statements and track loan balances
- Prepare development loan draw requests
- Handle special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role involving job cost accounting and multi-entity environments
- Proficiency with accounting systems used in project-based or construction environments
- Industry experience in land development, homebuilding, or residential construction is preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills (intermediate or above)
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Typing proficiency of 50-60 WPM preferred
